NeighborWell: A Making Things Right Initiative

NeighborWell is Making Things Right’s initiative for equipping and empowering compassionate Christians (individuals, small groups, and churches) to love their LGBTQ+ neighbors well. It’s a growing offering of training opportunities and resources, paired with a public, healing presence at strategic Pride events and conferences. It’s where repentance becomes action through honest conversation, connection and visible signs that faith communities can show up with radical acceptance and genuine love.

The name grows directly out of MTR’s  mission of loving God and loving our neighbor.

  • “Neighbor” is theologically neutral, grounded in a command nearly every Christian tradition already affirms, so it invites people in rather than staking out contested ground.
  • “Well” carries both an adverb and a noun: it signals doing this work carefully and rightly, echoing MTR’s patient, healing posture, while also evoking a literal well, the wellspring that sustains a community’s life.


“NeighborWell” carries forward MTR”s “I’m Sorry” posture and amplifies it with a message still carries repentance at its core: the quiet acknowledgment that the church hasn’t always neighbored well while facilitating an ongoing practice of restoration.

NeighborWell is MTR’s open invitation extended to individuals, small groups, churches, organizations…ANYONE desiring to learn to love our LGBTQ+ neighbors better.
