In 2019, Brian co-founded Renovus, an organization equipping LGBTQ+ people to reclaim their relationship with Jesus. Today, hundreds of LGBTQ+ people attend Renovus events and home groups. An encouraging byproduct of this growing community has been the friends, families and churches wanting to be a part of our restorative work. Thus, Making Things Right was born.
In 2021, Brian published a foundational white paper presenting the harmful religious experiences of LGBTQ+ people, inviting us to a more compassionate Christian response. Soon after, the Making Things Right project was launched, featuring podcast episodes, videos, and recommended organizations that serve Christians and churches wrestling with LGBTQ+ matters. In 2022, MTR Connect events kicked off featuring key thought-leaders, and Brian began speaking more regularly at events. After three years of increasing impact, Making Things Right became a 501(c)(3) organization in October 2024.
If you ask LGBTQ+ people why most of them have little involvement with Christians and the church, many would share heartbreaking stories of hurt and rejection and needing to get as far away from that as possible.
Redeeming this narrative is at the heart of all we do.
Our mission is to help reform the Christian response and responsibility to LGBTQ+ people via public advocacy, events, thought-leadership, resources, and synergistic partnerships. Contrary to conventional thinking, many Christians and church leaders want to move toward a more compassionate and inclusive posture with LGBTQ+ people. Our work is built on the understanding that a patient, respectful approach is essential in serving those who are reconciling long-held beliefs with new stirrings of compassion and responsibility toward the LGBTQ+ community.
Knowing well the struggle to reconcile faith and sexuality, for two decades Brian has helped LGBTQ+ individuals, parents, and church leaders pivot from theological debates to more productive, practical engagement around LGBTQ+ matters.
His podcast mini-series was featured by Christianity Today and has over 25,000 downloads. His work has been featured in The Dallas Morning News, Baptist News Global, and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He’s recently signed with Gardner Literary Agency and is working on his first book, A Quiet Reformation.
Brian works full-time as a financial services executive and dedicates much of his “spare” time to Making Things Right. Brian lives in Atlanta with his husband Dan and two daughters, yet his heart is in Italy, where he and Dan travel annually.
Kelly joined MTR in March 2024, directing marketing and operations, and developing synergistic relationships to exponentially advance the common mission of reforming the Christian response to LGBTQ+ people. While much of her work is behind the scenes, her favorite part of the job is interacting with people. As an Enneagram 2 and self-described “encourager”, she loves making human connections and being present when people need hugs and reminders that they are seen and valued just as they are.
Kelly and her husband Mickey live in metro Atlanta and are recent empty nesters. She enjoys reading, baking, hiking and traveling. Coming from a conservative evangelical background, Kelly credits her two young adult daughters for their influence in her becoming a more vocal LGBTQ+ ally.
In 2024, MTR assembled a small group to have a presence at Atlanta Pride with repentant messaging for how LGBTQ+ people have been hurt in faith spaces. The impact was tremendous! In fact, the Atlanta Journal Constitution noticed the group and featured a human interest story in their Pride 2024 coverage. That beautiful October day in Atlanta, a movement began…
In 2025, we launched the “I’m Sorry” Tour, partnering with individuals, churches and organizations in 6 cities to have a healing presence at their local Pride events. We offered heartfelt apologies to LGBTQ+ individuals who have experienced harm in the name of Jesus. The countless hugs, tears, and conversations are life-changing.

MTR Connect is our flagship online program which has become a trusted platform for constructive dialogue across theological differences. MTR Connect convenes leaders from across the theological spectrum who share a commitment to responsibility, compassion, and the well-being of LGBTQ+ people. MTR Connect conversations serve to model unity without any compromise of theological positions.
Each MTR Connect event is recorded and distributed through YouTube and the MTR Podcast, extending reach far beyond live participation to geographically and theologically diverse audiences. This multi-platform strategy ensures sustained impact by supporting ongoing learning, reflection, and practical application within faith communities.
