Unity in Action
This year’s MTR Connect theme is As Yourself, because loving our neighbor changes everything.
We’re closing out the year by elevating transgender and nonbinary faith voices, with Micah Melody Taberner and Peter Clare from Transmission Ministry Collective. TMC exists to connect and empower trans and gender-expansive people within a Christian context to explore gender and spirituality, share holistic care, and develop as leaders, and to educate and inspire change in broader faith communities. Join us as Micah Melody and Peter share their own stories of faith and gender, and the work of building communities where trans and nonbinary Christians can lead, belong, and flourish.Â
Micah-Melody Taberner
Micah Melody (she/her) serves as Co-Executive Director of Community Engagement for Transmission Ministry Collective. As a transgender and bi-racial Latina follower of Jesus, her greatest passion is helping individuals and communities explore the intersection of their identities and faith. She loves using art, music, and storytelling to build relationships and stir cross-cultural dialogue, and is currently finishing her Master of Arts in Social Transformation and Master of Divinity at Pacific School of Religion. Micah-Melody was a recipient of the On Being Social Healing Fellowship for her work in the gender-expansive Christian community.
Peter Clare
Peter (they/them or he/him) is the Development and Communications Coordinator for Transmission Ministry Collective. Peter is a queer follower of Jesus who believes that God uniquely reveals Herself in the voices, bodies, and lives of trans and gender-expansive people. Peter is also a lay leader at Zao MKE Church, a Jesus-rooted, justice-centered, radically inclusive network of digitally connected house churches. They try to see all their work through an abolitionist lens and are committed to dismantling carceral systems and building liberative communities of care. Peter is based in Chicago, IL.
